What to Do in Orlando

Walt Disney World Resort

"The Most Magical Place on Earth," reads a sign as you enter Walt Disney World Resort, and it doesn't lie. Whether you're getting an adrenaline rush at one of its four theme parks, getting cool at one of its two water parks, or seeing your favorite Disney characters come to life, there are activities for all ages at Walt Disney World.

Universal Orlando Resort

The other staple of Orlando tourism, Universal Orlando Resort houses the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Universal's Islands of Adventure, Universal's Volcano Bay water park, and so much more. Experience your favorite TV and movie moments in real life on rides inspired by The Simpsons, Men in Black, and Transformers. In between rides, enjoy food at the famous Mythos Restaurant or stroll through the Citywalk.

Airboat Tours

There’s more to Orlando than theme parks. In fact, it is home to diverse nature, including miles of marshes and everglades. Airboats, boats powered by giant fans, are the best way to explore Orlando's natural landscapes. Whiz along the waters and catch sight of turtles, alligators, birds, and fish. Get away from the bustle of the theme parks for a taste of Floridan nature.

What to See in Orlando

Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex

Remember when you wanted to be an astronaut? Fulfill your childhood dreams by visiting the Kennedy Space Center, located an hour's drive from Orlando. The visitor's complex offers IMAX screenings, space simulators, and more. Meet with real astronauts and gaze upon rockets that have been to space. Then, take the guided bus tour to visit the launch sites of the Apollo and Space Shuttle missions.

Gatorland

Florida and alligators go hand in hand, so why not visit Gatorland to see the primal reptiles up close? In addition to alligators, the 110-acre land is home to crocodiles, wild cats, birds, snakes, and tortoises. The fun doesn't stop with animals, though. During your visit, make sure to whiz along the Screamin' Gator Zip Line, which flies over the alligators below!

Lake Eola

In the heart of downtown Orlando lies Lake Eola, a beautiful body of water 28 acres in size. Stroll along the mile-long sidewalk that encircles the Lake, then rent swan-shaped paddle boats to float on the Lake itself. A perfect place for pictures of the Orlando skyline, Eola Lake is ideal if you need a break from theme parks.

Where to Stay in Orlando

Southwest Orlando

Want to visit Walt Disney World or Universal Orlando during your stay? Then Southwest Orlando is your best bet. There are many hotels within the parks proper, but there are hotels located outside of the parks as well. Besides the parks themselves, Southwest Orlando is mostly residential, and there are many restaurants to dine in if you don't want to eat in the parks.

Downtown Orlando

Downtown Orlando is a great central zone to see the city proper. Enjoy live shows at the Dr. Phillips Center or watch an NBA game at the Amway Center. Lovers of nightlife will enjoy restaurants, craft cocktails, and dance clubs. Plus, if you want to visit one of the famous Orlando theme parks, most are less than a 20-minute drive away.

South Eola

South Eola is a quiet neighborhood tucked into Downtown Orlando, and it's perfect for those looking to escape the bustle of theme parks and tourism. Here, you'll find trendy cafes, craft brew pubs, and cute restaurants. Walk around the beautiful Eola Lake, then spend the evening at the Abbey, a lounge/theater featuring live music, comedy, and cabaret shows.
